Safe and Considerate Driving

Using a mobile phone whilst driving is of course illegal and can result in a fine of up to £1000, 3 points on your license and even disqualification. However, despite the potential penalties, dialling, speaking or texting whilst driving is a contributory factor in one out of every four accidents.

Last year, the police were also given new powers to target so called anti-social driving such as hogging the middle lane or tail-gating. At the time, some commentators expressed scepticism as to how these laws would be implemented but it’s clear that drivers are now being prosecuted, with one motorist being given five points on his license and nearly £1,000 in fines and court costs.

The message is clear, whilst driving stick to just that. Phone calls can wait and so can anything else which could be a distraction, such as eating or drinking at the wheel. And finally, always be considerate and take a moment to ask yourself, if I saw someone else driving as I am, how would I react?
