I’d like to try electric vehicles but…

Working with Public Sector bodies across Scotland, time and again I hear that their biggest concern is being lumbered with a vehicle that doesn’t move out of the EV charging bay as drivers won’t use it because they have concerns about being stranded in the middle of The Trossachs.

So we’re inviting our customers and their drivers to Take a Leaf out of our book (literally). We have established a ‘try before you lease’ scheme to give people the opportunity to use a Nissan Leaf for up to 3 months so they can see just how they perform in a real-world situation and then if they like the results we’ll give them all the practical advice they need on introducing them onto their fleet.

To register your interest in our ‘try before you lease’ scheme, just fill out the short form below and we’ll be in touch to discuss the next steps.

Why are we doing this?

Working with Public Sector bodies across Scotland I’m seeing an increasing urgency, as we charge towards 2020, to find new ways to meet the tough environmental targets set – all the while keeping the organisation moving.

We’ve seen organisations introduce telematics to provide them greater transparency – reduce fuel expenses, emissions (as well as saving time on everyday operations)
The obvious solution is to switch to low emission vehicles, and 2014 saw a surge in demand for ULEV’s with registrations for plug–in vehicles increasing by 304% from 3,586 in 2013 to 14,498 in 2014 (SMMT)

Scotland is in fact a perfect proving ground for plug in vehicles and there’s no tougher testing than the Scottish Highlands. When a road is closed due to an accident or high winds on a bridge it’s not uncommon to find yourself taking a 50 mile diversion!

Low emission vehicles, whether they’re pure EV, hybrid or hydrogen fuel cell, are now becoming serious contenders in the fleet market and we’re seeing NHS Trusts, Local Authorities, Housing Associations all looking for ways to integrate them into their fleets for everyday use.

For us as a Leasing Company the benefits are clear – there’s clear cost savings, low or zero emissions, and the fact that local communities like to know Public sector bodies are taking their corporate responsibility seriously.

For company car drivers who are subject to the C02 emissions based BIK system – EV’s offer obvious benefits and re-fuelling costs are next to nothing in comparison to the cost to filling up a tank of petrol or diesel.

Customers such as West Lothian Council and Dumfries and Galloway have been leading the charge right from the beginning of this vehicle revolution – and are feeling the positive benefits of ULEV’s – in their pockets and with the local community.

Of course, it’s not just limited to just cars – South Lanarkshire Council have an electric sweeper on fleet that silently clears the streets while most of us are still sleeping and many other organisations have embraced the Nissan NEV.

Green Fleet have recognised me for my work as an EV Champion. But it’s not hard to be – once you drive these vehicles – you’ll become a passionate promoter too.
