With effect from April 6th 2015, the speed limits for heavy goods vehicles (HGV) have been increased on certain road types. Where there national speed limits apply, the following changes have become in force:
Single carriageways – speed limit increases from 40 mph to 50 mph
Dual carriageways – speed limit increases from 50 mph to 60 mph
This legislation has been brought in to improve congestion and progress of larger vehicles. However, please note that any vehicle already required to be speed limited to 56 miles per hour, will have to retain this restrictor even for roads where the limit for the vehicle has since been increased to 60mph.
