Autumn Statement Briefing Doc

[2016] Autumn Statement: Briefing Document

This year’s Autumn Statement was special in many regards. It wasn’t just the first of a new Chancellor, Philip Hammond. It wasn’t just one of the first detailed policy documents of Theresa May’s Government. It also looks ahead to a new landscape in which the United Kingdom is leaving the European Union.

All of which means that the Statement itself contained a lot to examine – which is why our Consultancy Services team have produced a short guide to make it easier for our customers to understand the impact on their organisation. It isn’t intended to be a comprehensive account of everything that was announced, but it does touch on all of the major forecasts and policies:

The economic and fiscal forecasts: The outlook for the economy and the public finances impacts everything the Chancellor can do. This section presents the latest numbers.

• Policies for motorists: The Autumn Statement contained a number of announcements that will particularly affect motorists, from Salary Sacrifice to Fuel Duty. Here, we explain what they mean.

• Other policies: We describe four other major themes in Hammond’s Autumn Statement: infrastructure, taxes, pensions and the future of the Autumn Statement itself.

You can download our guide here – we hope you find it useful.
