CV Show 2016 : Day one review

“Commercial vehicles have never been more important to the British economy, transporting vital goods and services using the latest low emission technology.”  Mike Hawes Chairman of the SMMT

The Commercial vehicle show is without question the largest and the most comprehensive road transport and logistics event held in Britain, and over the next few days the show is expected to attract close to 20,000 visitors to its home at the NEC.

Record number of vans on the roads

On the day that the show opened its doors, The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealed that the number of vans in the UK are at their all time high with over 4 million on the roads;  4.3% up on last year with first quarter registrations in 2016 growing by 1.2% . Registrations in 2015 were 370,000.

Driving down emissions

Day one of the CV Show saw the unveiling of SsangYong’s 2.2 diesel Euro6 Engine and Iveco Daily adding a Euro 6 model to its line up – just in time – as all vans registered from September 2016 will have to meet the new Euro 6 emissions standards.

LDV, once part of Leyland, returned to Britain to showcase the Chinese car makers first all-electric van, the LDV EV80 with a 215-mile range.
